Rehydrating Beet Smoothie
REHYDRATING BEET SMOOTHIE
FOOD AS MEDICINE:
Coconut water is a great beverage to maintain optimal hydration and balance electrolytes while preventing nausea. Be sure to choose a product without added sugars and organic if possible. The berries contain anthocyanins which are an antioxidant with properties that support healthy blood cell formation and protect blood vessels and healthy tissue from damage. The brazil nuts provide antioxidants including selenium and vitamin E to promote optimal energy levels and scavenge free radicals.
6oz coconut water
1/2 cup raspberries
1/2 cup strawberries
1 small beet (1/3 cup chopped)
2 brazil nuts (or 1/8 cup rolled oats)
1 tsp raw unfiltered honey (optional)
Add all of the ingredients except the protein to the blender and blend until incorporated. Whip in the whey protein and blend 10-15 seconds or until just combined.
